It Snowed. Again.

At least I didn't have to work this time, but it froze last night so I had fun scrapping off my windshield this morning.  Cloudy, but doesn't seem like the clouds will do anything.  I think my truck finally realized that it had got an oil change because it's sounding a bit better today.  Either that or it's in shock from the return to cold.  the snow stuck to the grass but not the roads thankfully.
My art teacher started posting our grades from older assignments today, so I have a better idea of how I stand there.  Got the reading done for that class just now.
Had a high school student flirt with me at work and then try to get my phone number with the other 3-4 boys in the truck egging him on.  I enjoy the compliment, but I'm a little bit older than they think.

My Heart Can't Take Anymore...Junk Food?

This was a joke I shared with a classmate.  During the first set of presentations in english 3080 today a classmate brought cupcakes.  I asked a different classmate which kind they'd gotten and they answered me with the above statement-minus the last two words.  I added them to which we both laughed.
Changed the marquee today with the help of three committee members.  Two boys and one girl, so they boys decided it should be a 'race' of boys verses girls.  The girls won, but the boys complained that the other girl-who'd been giving us the letters to put up-couldn't do both at once and so he had to wait for his 'partner'.  He still had to straighten the letters after I'd finished, and he nearly caught up to me twice.  Made it go a lot faster than usual.
My parents and siblings were doing tree trimming today, so I went to help drag the branches out to our woodpile.  One of the bushes they trimmed had burst into bright yellow blossoms and after dragging most of those over to the pile I commented to my mom that we'd 'set the pile on fire' with them.  Then I grabbed the camera and Elicia and took a picture of her on top of the pile.  Thought it'd be funny in class tomorrow.

I'm Feeling a Bit Burned out Right Now...

and I've still got those two papers to write.  Totally bombed my japanese test, like I feared, but I got 19.5 out of 20 on the following quiz, so I'm still 2% over where I need to be to pass.  Turned in my linguistics test, and took my art 1040 one today.  Had to skip one question because I couldn't remember the answer at all.  Figures.
My mom suggested I start wearing sunblock, and then wednesday it rains and today we got snow-and it stuck.  Not cool getting to work on time, especially since people forgot the no stop on hills when going up rule and I nearly got stuck twice.  Was five minutes late because of traffic...
During linguistics today there was a lot of thunder.  One I swear shook the building and gave all of us a good scare.  A second came later, but didn't rattle things that time.
My sister got me reading The Alloy of Law, which is a more lighthearted foray into the Mistborn world.  Finished that tuesday evening.

Owch...

Somehow bruised my finger at work today, the right index finger middle knuckle.  Was not fun after that.
Didn't have 3080 today, as the teacher planned on presentations for the next few weeks, so two classmates and I ate lunch there and chatted about our final paper topics.
World lit had another classmate from that class who's supposed to present on friday but is not feeling like they can have it done by then.
Japanese was the start of a new chapter, so the only homework I had was the extra credit for the last test.  Still need to do my linguistics test for phonetics...

Ha Ha Ha...

Thought it might not be a good day, then my photography teacher took us on a field trip and we got some rather goofy pictures.  Then the teacher goes and finds an old barbie doll-with pink hair and wearing a pink bathing suit and her legs and face caked with dirt while the rest was clear.  That's now our class 'mascot' and I get the first week of taking her-now named elicia by the same teacher-and finding a unusual way to take a picture of her.
This ought to be fun...

Taking a Test

With a headache is not the way I like to do it.  Had my Japanese test today with a rather nasty, though not too painful, headache.
Barely got back in time to take it, as I had a dentist appointment today.  That went well, at least.  Had to grab something for my lunch at school.

Watch the Sunburn...

At least it feels like my face and neck keep getting it.  Not too bad though, so not an issue-yet-.  Rather nice today, save the wind trying to bruise my shins again.
School was fun, as we got out of art a bit early for a thursday-tuesday's the official earl;y out day-so I had time to eat my lunch and finish my linguistics packet before that class.  Now have an over the weekend test to do for that.
Japanese test 2 tomorrow. Sigh.  Starting to panic a bit with my papers and found out the earliest one due isn't until the 7th with the next one due the 18th.  Pay more attention to deadlines...
My siblings and or parents have been doing something in the garden today.  there are at least a dozen piles of dirt or something next to the area by the three fruit trees.  Mulch or plowing?

Back Again

My linguistics teacher commented that March in Utah is 60 degrees one day and finding your door frozen shut the next.  Not quite that extreme, but pretty close.  Snowed a good covering, but melted off just as fast.  Made the day cold yet again.
Art class was the normal discussion, but at the end we made a list of future readings as the teacher has covered everything they're required to have us read.  One more assignment in that  class-I think.
Test coming up in linguistics...
Truck is not liking the return to cold, and that's my only real complaint about it.
Student body elections this week, so my friends from art and I voted after class today.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Hope you remembered the green!  I forgot so I pulled out the dark green handkerchief I'd been using at work to cover my scalp and tied it around my neck.  Looked a bit funny, but it worked.
Got up early to do the Japanese homework I didn't get to last week, only to get to class and find out the teacher got real sick and canceled class for today.  At least it's done now.
Very cold wind all day, with rather strong gusts.  At work I felt very much in common with the cab driver in Arsenic and Old Lace-old black and white film-where he says "I'm not a cab driver I'm a teapot!" indicating that the wind forced him to stand with one hand over his head-for his hat-and the other on a fence post.  I was more of a squished one given the sign I had to fight to hold on to at times.
Downside is the cold drained me so I'm real tired.
And it's snowing now.  Today's just big on irony for the moment.
Doing family research for FHE.

Oh Fine.

Yesterday was standard for Spring break save the 35-40 minute walk to go get my truck at 9 a.m.  It runs much better now thanks to the tune up.  No further trouble with the left turn signal.
Had a kid ride his bike past while I was at work and say he loved me.  I'd rather not focus on the minimum 10 years age difference there.  Also say my best friend's mother with a car full of girls who all waved at me.
Of course, I wake up just fine today but on the way to my youngest brother's track meet I begin to develop a migraine.  Managed to skip the worse of the pain but been queasy and dizzy ever since.  Grr.
We get home and my mother's male dog got stepped on by the bigger female one and now has a nice slash on his leg.  My mom and I had to wrestle with him to get it bandaged and cleaned.  He's cowering under the computer desk now.
Finally got my mom her camera bag-for less than I'd thought I would.

Getting Warmer

Slowly though.  Dropped my truck off to get the engine tuned, alternator checked, and oil changed.  I can do the last one myself, but I'm not sure I'd do it right and I'd probably take a lot longer at it too.  Going to cost me though.
My parents and youngest two brothers are at my sister's having queesh-I think that's how its spelled, a egg casserole type thing-so my sister and I are making hamburger patties for my second oldest brother and the two of us to eat.
Work was work, though I found out they're having funding issues and the other guy had to leave because they couldn't pay them.  Figures.
Cleaned my room today, as in deep cleaned.  Rather gross what I got in the vacuum.  Didn't think I was that dirty, but it's been a while since I cleaned it last.

Wild Weather

for today at least.  Had snow last night and some during work-made for a very interesting day with cold and windy alternating with sun so I was sweating-so work was fun without running about six minutes late.  Then the wind knocked over two of the flags and snapped one of the zip ties again.  Thankfully no free flying flags this time, though the standee tried a nose dive into the street.
The lateness came from going to a movie right before and hitting traffic.  My sister and I went to see Robocop, which we liked, but we've never seen the original.   She had to drop me off at work and then pick me up afterwards.

Trick question?

My sister found one of those online quizzes based on book/movies and one of them was a bat and ball are 1.10.  The bat is a dollar more than the ball.  How much is the ball?  the answers were 1.00, 1.05, 1.10, and I don't care.  My sister selected 1.00-I think-and I did 1.10.
She was Divergent-yes, that movie/book was the quiz-and I'm erudite.  Still don't know what the answer was.
Very windy with full cloud cover, but no rain or snow.  Made work fun, as one of the flags fell over and both the zip ties holding to the pole snapped.  Thankfully the flag was pinned under the pole so it didn't go anywhere but I had to capture it and shove it into the bucket while bringing it back inside.
Spring Break all week! And I've got two 10 page papers I want to work on plus three books.  Figures...

Not Quite.

Tried to microburst again today, just a lot of wind with the threat of rain-and cold.  My supervisor got some kind of pasta stuff delivered and almost insisted I try it before leaving.  Not bad stuff, but not something I've tried before.
Almost got my essay the way I want it, but it's a little shorter than I want it so its not turned in yet.  quiz in Japanese went well for being barely studied for.
Almost Spring Break!

Microbursts?

I think that's what it's been doing all day.  It will rain for about ten minutes rather heavily then gradually taper off.  Then it stops long enough for things to start drying off.  And the wind blows the next set in.  Not so fun at work were it was blowing the flags and stand up sign over...
My mom's little dog is acting like he did something he's going to get in trouble over, but my older sister, younger brother, and I-we're the only one's home at the moment, as my parents and youngest two brothers are at my other sister's house-can't figure out what he did.
Essay for art is done, but essay for english is only half done.  Sigh.  Hate writers block when it does that with an assignment!

Not Again...

The new sign waver at my work called in sick today and yesterday.  They had monday off and skipped saturday due to 'rain'.  Do I take my job too seriously by comparison?
Job interview today went well, though one thing against me is that they need someone to start monday and I have school-well, it is spring break next week but I have three to four weeks left after that-so not a good ift there.  We'll see how it goes.
a group of men on campus were handing out miniature copies of the New Testament Psalms and Proverbs.  I was curious why they had that but didn't have time to ask.  Heard another woman ask and I figured the answer was something like 'it includes Psalms and Proverbs'.
Have a paper I need to write, so I'll get to that.

Tuesday, March 4, 2014

Ugh...

Long day, and I'm very tired.  I didn't get all the dishes done for yesterday either.  Did two loads and there's enough for a third. Figures.  Got a call from the school district again about an application I sent in.  Now have an interview scheduled for tomorrow morning.
Also had a long talk with my friend after class too.  My linguistics teacher seems to be frantic as we're trying to make up the time from when they were sick.  Making things a bit cobbled in class.
Still need to work on my papers for this week...

Fun Weekend.

Not so fun today.  Got to help babysit my two nieces over the weekend.  Their dad picked them up today.  My niece-the older one who's 3-told me that Catch My Breath by Kelly Clarkson is too loud.  Not sure how she meant that.
Got a headache today while at work.  Gr...
